Watching Brooke & Austin

Every other Saturday Rachel and I switch off watching each other's kids for about 2-3 hours so we can go on dates. It's worked out really well so far and today was our turn to watch Rachel and Anthony's kids. Except they were going to Lagoon and it's wasn't going to be just 3 hours but 6. Both Spencer and I were a little nervious about the extended length of time. When they dropped the chit-lins off we played with some of their favorites toys like the 30 golf balls, all the kitchen utencils, and a tennis racket. In between there both girls took naps and when they woke up it was close enough to luch time (11:00). So we cooked up so Macie-cheese which everyone loved. Next was the pool. By the time we got everyone ready and in the car, Spencer and I didn't know if we had made a wise decision in our choice of activity. It turned out to be great fun. I thought the girls would stay in a kiddie pool I brought but no they had to be with Spencer and Austin in the "Big Pool". All in all it took us about 30 mins. to get ready for the pool and we stayed for about 25 mins. Ratio not too great but with 3 kids and just the two of us we took it with smiles. Last was a walk to the Gas station for treats. By then Kate had fallen asleep and Rachel and Anthony where on their way home. All 3 kids did really well and both Spencer and I gave each other a pat on the back. It was a long day but a really good one too.

Sick kid = no posts

Well, Kate has been sick this week and when she's down there's not much to blog about. I took her to the doctor and looks like Kate has Roseola.

What is roseola you may wonder?
Roseola (roseola infantum) is a mild illness caused by a virus. It is generally harmless and is most common in children 6 months to 2 years of age. Roseola often starts with a sudden high fever [103 F to 105 F] that lasts 2 to 3 days. The rapid increase in temperature may be the first sign of roseola and often occurs before you realize that your child has a fever. After the fever ends, a rosy-pink rash may appear over your child's entire body, starting on the torso and spreading to the face, neck, and arms. The rash is not itchy and may last 1 to 2 days.

Sounds like no fun, huh? The only thing good from her being sick was that my little "non-stop go getter" wanted to cuddle all day long. (A mother’s dream) She just wanted to lay her head on me and believe me I took full advantage of that! So you can see that there hasn’t been much to say beside we’ve been snuggle bunnies. We are currently at the rash stage of this virus and poor thing - she's lookin' rough. On the upside, now that Kate is feeling better, we are planning a trip to a new water park in Provo today. (I'm pretty sure it's not contagious by now.) I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and get them posted a.s.a.p.

What A Beautiful Day!

Today was beautiful outside! We couldn't help ourselves but to go to the pool. However, the pool wasn't big enough for all three of us so Spencer and I just laid out to catch some rays while Kate played in the water. She loved the pool and could have stayed in it all day. P.E.D - Saturday

We woke up this morning not sure if it was going to "rain on our parade" but we lucked we out! Kate and I got to ride with the other winners of the different age groups of the baby contest in the big Pony Express Parade. She loved it! She couldn't wear her cute outfit because it was just too cold - so she wore the shirt they gave but still had to wear a jacket so it covered that up too. I'm just glad that she's still too little to ask if she can ride like that everywhere now.

Next was the carnival. Kate just wanted to walk around the big open space but was happy to play a game for her Daddy's sake. She won a little duck (that cost $5 and is probably worth 50 cents). Spencer keeps reminding me it's not what you win it's the memory made winning it. Either way you look at it they both had fun and I guess that's what counts.

Later this evening we went to our ward BBQ party. Kate loved the chicken and the baked beans. She is just like her dad - we'll see if the beans have the same effect on her too? She also got to see and play with all her friends from church. Of course Kate isn't looking at the camera as usual.

It's been a wonderful day!

P.E.D. - Tuesday

Spencer and Kate went to the petting zoo and didn't take any pictures. I guess is wasn't much of a petting zoo because there was only a dirty cow, two chickens and a goat. That's right, just 3 kinds of animals - BORING! So to improvise I've added some pictures of my own.

Pony Express Days - Monday

Each year our community puts on a week full of all kinds of events. Monday was kiddie games and a movie under the stars. We went to the games of course - Spencer loves the games. Here are some pictures of us having a great time!

I think this the only picture of Kate I actually got with her looking at the camera. She's just a wiggle worm!

Spencer willingly volunteered to try and throw the football into the hole for Kate. He was zero for three. I guess he won't he quarterback for the Turkey Bowl this year.

There were games where you just got to spin a wheel and try to land on a certain spot. She won both times!

Books, stuffed animals and any kind of animal are just a few of Kate's favorite things. She was lucky to have found such nice dogs.
