The First Cuts Always The Hardest...?

Bree has a mulet.  It's a pretty gnarly one too.  So tonight I decided it was time to chop it off and give my little girl a more stylish do.

I forgot to get the "after" pictures so stay tune...

Karaoke? Yes Please.

A few of us got together after Thanksgiving at Ken and Gloria's house.  We were all just hangin' out until someone turned on the karaoke machine and then music madness broke out.  It ranged from my dad's solo of an Elvis Presley song to...
Everyone singing Summer Lovin' from Grease.
Now I should mention that most of us are not musically trained but that didn't stop us because we brought the house down with our skills... or lack of.

Thanksgiving 2011

We hosted Thanksgiving Dinner at our house this year for my side of the family.  We had a great turn out and as always delicious food.  With the girls all dressed up in their turkey day shirts, family and the food ready it was time to eat.  After dinner, it was watching football for the boys and talking for the girls.  Later we played the game "Would You Rather" with made up situations which left us all laughing hard and pondering some very tricky questions.  It was a nice way to end a very wonderful Thanksgiving Day.  Now everyone is gone and the house has been picked up and I'm sitting here writing this and I realize I have much to be thankful for in my life.  Most of which revolves around my family and faith.  It's these two things and all they in compass that bring me to my knees each night giving thanks for their presence in my life.

6 Years

Today Spencer and I celebrated 6 years together.  Spencer had to go to Arizona for work but luckily I was able to tag along and we took the opportunity to celebrate our anniversary there too.  We flew into Phoenix Tuesday morning and headed up to Sedona to do some sight seeing. It was pretty awesome to see the red rocks just pop up out of the bright blue sky.  We had planned to stay the night there but at the last minute we changed our minds and drove back to Phoenix.  Bad idea.  We were unaware that not only was Orchard having a company anniversary party but that every other company was also gathering in Phoenix too.  We drove around for a good two and a half hours trying to find a hotel under $100 bucks.  After contemplating whether to sleep in the car we ended up at La Quinta.  It was a place to sleep and it came with a free breakfast too.
We found a quaint little sandwich shop for lunch
It's a must to always have ice-cream on vacation - this was our first of many on this trip.

Visited the Chapel of the Holy Cross - a churn building surrounded by red rock and amazing views

On Wednesday we checked into a much much nicer resort and Spencer was off to meetings.  This meant I was able to relax.  No house to clean, kids to feed, errands to run just me and 4 hours to twiddle my thumbs.  That night Mrs. Robin Orchard took the company out to dinner. After dinner we played cards with Corbin and Natalie.

Thursday was another day to relax while Spencer went to meetings the first half of the day.  He got a break for lunch and the 4 of us went to find a place to eat.  We ended up at Dairy Queen which apparently was frowned upon from the locals.  That evening we celebrated 10 Years with Robin and Orchard Medical Consulting.  It was a great party.

Friday we were free until our flight back home at 6pm.  Robin was so generous to pay for a movie and lunch at the iPic theater which was totally amazing.  So Spencer and I and Corbin and Natalie saw Puss in Boots 3D.  It was the most surreal movie watching experience any of us ever had.  After that it was back to the airport to fly home.

We had such a great time and loved the time we were able to spend with just each other.  It was so good to pick up the girls from my mom's and be home again. After such a great trip I would like to make our anniversary getaway a new yearly tradition.
