Swim Lessons

Kate finished her first set of swim lessons and did really well! She loved going swimming everyday! She can now blow bubbles in the water, go under for 6 sec., kick and scoop her arms, reach for the wall, crawl the wall, climb in and out of the pool, and with mom's help float on her back! It was a lot of fun for both of us!

Pumpkin Time

I love carving pumpkins - even though I do the same face very year. It's amazing because I remember it taking such a long time for the whole process when I was younger and now I can whip one out in 30 minutes... probably because I do the same face.
Here's Kate sketching out her pumpkin face on paper first... not sure what all the footprints are though
YummyYum! I told him you cook and eat the seeds, not the goop.
Working oh so hard on my pumpkin
Kate adding the finishing touches on her pumpkins.
Ta-Da! There you have it, our 2009 Halloween Pumpkins.

Bubble Bath

Kate loves herself a bubble bath! The other day we turned on the jets in the tub and boy oh boy did we get a major bubble bath!

It's not a bubble bath if you don't sing your heart out while playing in the bubbles, right? KateSinging "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid of course

Halloween Party

We had a Halloween Party for all of the little kids out in Eagle Mountain. It was great to see everyone all dressed up. There was crafts, treats, story time, and even a pinata. I think the kids just liked the open space to run around most of all.

We had a most wonderful time!

Scarecrow Festival

We got some free tickets to the Thanksgiving Point Scarecrow Festival from my cousin and at the last minute decided to go tonight. It was a lot of fun and probably more fun because it was free! They had all these great little backdrops perfect for a family picture. Here's Kate climbing through the pumpkins - there were some really big ones!
All the games were free! Kate hit every ball at this particular game - much better than I could ever do.
Kate got her face painted. At first she wanted a unicorn but when the girl said that she had never done that before and it was Kate's first time getting her face painted I changed it to a simple but cute flower. Kate did really good and as soon as the lady was finished and Kate hopped out of the chair she said she wanted it washed off. We were able to distract her by a train ride.
The finished picture - Ta-da!
It was a lot of fun and Kate had a great time. Next year we'll plan on going a bit earlier, before it gets dark and cold and just maybe Kate can get a unicorn painted on her cheek. Thanks again Genette for the free tickets - we had a great time!

Jump Jump Jumperoo

Here's a video link to Kate jumping off Spencer's desk. Sometimes I wonder if I have a monkey for a child.

Special Olympics 2009

I can't believe this years Special Olympic Basketball season is over. It was such a great season with almost double the Lehi athletes from when Spencer started three years ago. Here's Kate and I at the opening ceremonies where the Jazz Bear was there tossing out little basketballs to the crowd. Kate's favorite part was the lighting of the torch but then she was mad because she wanted to lite it herself, figures.
After the opening ceremonies we went to the dance where we all got to bust a move. Visit the site below to see Kate dancing.
My favorite part of the dance video is when Kate does her pointing dance - Lindsey was on the Lehi B Team and when we gave her a ride to the Opening ceremonies she sat next to Kate. She has downs syndrome and wouldn't give Kate any bubble space so every time she would try to talk to Kate in the car Kate would turn her head the other way. It was really funny.

Because there were so many players this year they had to split into two teams - Team A (the more talented players) and Team B (the not as talented players). At the games Spencer coached the B team and led them to take the bronze medal in their division. The Lehi A team won the Silver medal in their division. They were all so excited because this is the first year Lehi Basketball received a medal.
The B Team
Here's the A Team. They too did awesome and placed 2nd in their division winning the silver medal.
I'm so grateful for the opportunity to watch these very special individuals and volunteers come together for 2 days. Every year it brings a tear to my eye to be amidst these blessed children of God. If only everyone saw the world through their eyes. It's been a wonderful season and the Lehi Basketball Team is already planning to win the gold medal for next year. As Spencer always tells the players "It's not about having fun, its about winning"

Sing-A-Long Songs

Everyone knows that neither Spencer or I have the talent of carring a tune. I am very much tone deaf and Spencer can sometimes hit the right note. So it's quite a shock that Kate loves to sing. She has had these songs down for awhile now and sings them much better in person but just for keepsakes I got them on film. Click on the links to watch the videos.

Western Night

Last night we attended our ward's Western Night. There was a chili cook off, wagon rides and even some good ole square dancing. I made my mom's famous "Man Chili" hoping to win the coveted price of milk duds but a las ... I didn't win. It could have been that I was a little too prideful, telling Spencer that when we win, I get the candy. So I'm afraid I was served a much needed piece of humble pie. There's always next year though.
We all went on a horse pulled wagon ride through the scenic streets of Lehi.
Last of all Spencer and Kate got jiggy with it while doing some square dancing. Kate loved dancing with her daddy and even when dad had enough, that didn't stop her from putting on a solo performance.
We had a great time and even got a family picture out of it with a very neat western background.

craft storage containers

My mother-in-law works at a place called New Phase. They make plastic containers for all sorts of things. Lately I've been into making beaded watch bands and needed something to store my all extra beads. Ebony, suggested to try one of her companies craft containers. I absolutely love it! I got the Deluxe Bead Organizer and it's great because I can easily see all the different beads and I have a place to put all my tools as well. They make other kinds too and they can be used for all kinds of hobbies like fishing and sewing. Here's the website - check it out!
