Music Recital

For the last school year Kate's been taking a music class to learn about music.  Something neither Spencer and I know a thing about.  It's a 3 year program and she just completed her 1st year!  Tonight she had her recital which she did awesome at.

Color Me Rad 5K

A while ago I signed our family up for the Color Me Rad 5K. A fun run where you get colored chalk and water thrown on you while you run.  It was fun and Kate got to go with us. She was a little hesitant about getting dirty but by the finish line she didn't mind so much.  My dad was was supposed to run with us but he as an issue with getting dirty.  So he hid and met us at the finish line.  Dad = Party Pooper!

PaRtY!!!

Kate's been wanting to throw a party for sometime now.  There's no rhyme or reason but to just have her friends over for some cake and games.  The other day Kate was in Spencer's office busy working on a letter to her friend Alyssa.  She would come and ask Spencer how to spell a word here and there then put her letter in an envelope and asked Spencer if he would walk with her to Alyssa's house to put it in their mailbox.  The next day I got a text from Alyssa mom that Alyssa was so excited for the party tonight.

WHAT?

I went to ask spencer if he knew anything.  He put one and two together and called Alyssa's mom to clear things up and explain that there was no party and that he was sorry for not really being aware of what his little 4 year old was having him do.  She was fine but said how disappointed Alyssa would be because she couldn't stop talking about the party she was going to.  Spencer felt bad and after a bit he called back and told her the party was on and that we'd put on a little something for Kate and her friends.  Once Kate, who had forgotten about her little party invite, heard the news she was pumped and wanted to get ready for the party.  So her and I went out to get some balloons and things for the night.  We hurried and called some of Kate's other friends to come over too.  The party was a big hit and all the girls had fun.  We did a craft, decorated cupcakes, played games and danced.  Kate was glowing the whole night!

Around 8:30 they all went home and with a quick clean up just like that it was done, a very impromptu PaRtY.

Beautiful Day

Today is my sister's Birthday - she turned the big 30.  My mom watched her kids for a bit then they came over to our house.  It was such a wonderful day that we got into our swimsuits and brought out the hose and some popsicles.

Today was Kate's first Soccer Game of the season.  She was super excited to get out there and ply.
Warming up with her team before the game
Kate got to throw the ball in

Their games are two 15 minute halves and a 5 minute break in the middle.  The first half was almost over and Kate was pooped!  She could hardly walk back to her team.  What a stinker!
On the sidelines while some other teammates played.  Kate really likes this because now she gets to play/weave the grass.  So it's soccer and grass weaving - who knew?
She did awesome her first game.  She could probably do a little better if she wasn't always being distracted by things like a crying baby, someone getting a drink, or just even me yelling, "Go KATE!" Oh well, it's about having fun and not about winning.... for now anyway.

Tulip Festival

Hannah and Logan invited us to go the the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival with them this evening.  It was heaven for Kate because she loves flowers.  When we first got there Kate and Chase wanted to roll down a big hill they had.  Who wouldn't, right?

We walked around to where they had some booths and Kate worked her magic and got some FREE doughnuts.

Bree lovin' on her creamy popsicle
It was really pretty but we got there a little late and didn't have much time to see everything.  The whole time Kate wanted to pick all the flowers and Spencer let her very sneakily pick one at the very end. It was a lot of fun and a good way to spend a Friday night with the family!

1st Soccer Practice

We signed Kate up for Soccer this Spring and today was her first practice.  Of course the weather has been nice until today were it was extra windy and cold.  They have mostly girls on their team but the one boy in the picture below is really good and seems to know what he's doing.  Their team name is Lightning - obviously picked by the only boy.

Funny story about Brooke- The coach asked her to tribble the ball  to the  cone across the way so she picked it up and tried to tribble the soccer ball like a basketball.  Really funny and cute.

Kate is very social and the coach only had to call her attention a few times as she was busy talking to the other kids or Brooke.

The girls did awesome and I think this will be good for them.

Easter

Easter Morning was great!  We started off with a family walk because I forgot to get their baskets ready. Oops.  On the walk we found some a lot of water snakes and Kate held one.  She's so brave.  When we got back I put their "Spring Baskets" out for them to find.  I tried really hard to stir clear of the candy and went for things like puzzles, bubbles, glow sticks, flower seeds,  stickers, coloring book and such.  I think they really like them and didn't even mind that there was no candy.

Easter Family pictures are always fun... not.  For some reason the combination of making sure everyone looks nice and church just makes for a hectic morning.

Yes, here I am 21 weeks pregnant.

Easter Egg Hunt at my parents.  Once again they got some really fun and yummy stuff.

Easter was great as always.
