Homemade Bread

Spencer has been dying for some homemade wheat bread and yesterday I thought I'd try to make some. I found this recipe online with a 5 star rating and gave it a try. The results - very very yummy homemade wheat bread.

The recipe:

1 envelope yeast (2 1/4 tsp.)
2 cups water
1/4 cup softened butter
1/8 cup molasses
1/4 cup honey
1 tsp. salt
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups white flour

1. dissolve yeast in water

2. mix butter, molasses, honey, and salt in large bowl

3. add yeast mixture and then gradually add flour

4. turn onto floured surface and knead until smooth

5. place in buttered bowl and let rise until doubled

6. punch down and let rest for a few minutes

7. divide dough into 2 parts and shape into loaves

8. place in greased pans and let rise for about an hour

9. bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes

President's Day

We started off President's Day pretty normal. Spencer had an appointment in the morning and when he got back I took advantage of his presence and we all went grocery shopping. After Kate's nap we got into our bathing suits and headed over to the Legacy Center in Lehi for a little swim. There we met up with Hannah and Logan. Kate loved the water and wasn't too happy about having to leave after an hour of splashing, floating, going' on the slides and being soaked from the big bucket. However, we were all hungry. Pizza was on the menu for dinner with a side of whatever else you could find. (I personally had toast and chocolate. Such a treat!) That evening we played an intense game of "Take It" in which I won! (Yippee! One mark on the board for me please.) We ended the night by watching "24". It was a really fun day!

That's right, at the end of this video I was being splashed by some kid - Don't worry the video camera and I were O.K. and Kate loved having the bucket full of water dumped on her!

Valentine's Weekend...

We had a wonderful weekend. Not only was it Valentine's Day on Saturday but Grandma and Grandpa came down! They watched Kate Friday night while Spencer and I when out to eat, played some arcade games and then stayed the night at a hotel in Salt Lake. It was a perfect Valentine's Day present. Saturday morning we headed home and got ready for a family trip to the temple with Grandma, Grandpa, Logan, and Hannah. It was such a beautiful sight to see us all in the temple together. Then dinner was at our house with a game of "Take It" soon after. Kate had such a good time with her grandparents and Logan and Hannah and we loved having everyone over!
Sorry no pictures - I totally messed up.

A New Truck!!!

We've been looking into buying a truck for sometime now and have finally found one that's perfect for us! It's got everything we were looking for and more! Spencer has been bouncing off the walls and even woke up at 4:30 in the morning because he was so excited. I'm pretty excited too! And it makes me even more happy to know that Spencer finally gets his "Man truck". He thinks all men aren't real men unless they have a truck. I'm just afraid that the elders quorum will find out and now every Saturday will be spent moving in/out new members homes. (We have a lot of movement in our ward and if they know you have a truck you can count on being called to help) I guess if that's the worst of it then we came out on top.

We now have to sell our 2001 Pontiac Grand Am so if your interested please leave us a comment - we're selling it at an awesome price!!

Miscarriage

Today I found out that I had a miscarriage. I was about 7 weeks pregnant. Both Spencer and I are heartbroken. We had been wanting to be pregnant for awhile now and were super excited when we found out that I was pregnant back in January. Just 17 days later we find out that this little miracle is no longer. It's been hard and my emotions are on edge but I wanted to thank everyone for their love and support. I know that our lives are in God's hands and all will work out for the best in the end.

Spencer's Twin

Cameron and Emily were in Hawaii this past January and they said that while they were there they saw Spencer's twin. For all of you that know Spencer, he loves to explore and find things - mostly money or things of worth but really anything will do. This guy must be from the same breed. And yes, Spencer was jealous, but I told him that one day we'll make our way over to Hawaii and he could metal detect his heart out!

My Obsession

My wonderful friend Natali did a post on her blog about her obsession with hoodies. She then asked everyone to go through their closet and see what their obsession is. My would be...

POLO'S!!!
I absolutely LOVE them for many reasons.
1) They are comfy
2) They are casual but can be dressed up (somewhat)
3) They'll never go out of fashion (good thing because I'm pretty sure I've lost all my fashion sense)
4) They come in a plethora of colors and go with any type of bottom (jeans, khakis, shorts, sweat pants)
5) They are easy - no layers - no worries about if it too low - don't have to tug on it to make it longer - just one shirt to do the job for the whole day.
I didn't realize what an obsession I had until I actually pulled them all out. As you can see, I almost have every color. Spencer must have noticed this little love affair I have because one day shopping Spencer made the comment, "You have all the same clothes". Yes, I see this is so and I confess that I, Charlene French, have an obsession with Polo's.

Sing it Kate! Sing it!

Here's a viedo of Kate singing one of her new favorite songs, "I love to see the temple".
Be sure to pause the music to your right.

2009 Super Bowl

Well we went to Idaho for the Super Bowl of course the babies and kids are to young to care or understand what's going on so they enjoyed doing other things such as taking baths and coloring. As far as the Super Bowl goes most of Spencer's family wanted the Cardinals to win but unfortunatly the Steelers won on an amazing catch by the Steelers receiver. The question will always be out there..."Did he have both feet on the ground?" Some pictures say otherwise. O well it was a good game and fun as always spending time with the French family watching the big game. I will admit however it will be nice to have my husband back on Thursday nights, Saturday's, Sunday's and Monday nights...at least for 7 months.
